A WEDMORE butcher has been named the Young Butcher of the Year by a BBC programme.
Lloyd Tucker, who works in Hectors Farm Shop in The Borough, beat three other challengers to win the BBC3 competition, where the judges praised him as being ‘technically brilliant’ and described his final display as ‘stunning’.
He said: “To win the competition is absolutely brilliant, I’m a farmer’s son and I’ve always wanted to be a butcher, and this will be something great to go above the door.
“I’ve had to sit on it for a while since the filming in September, but since it was broadcast in December I’ve had a few customers coming in with bottles of champagne for me, which is nice.”
