PLANS to extend a Weston bar’s licence to allow alcohol to be served until 4am on weekends have been turned down by North Somerset Council.
The council’s licensing sub-committee rejected the application by Ammos cocktail bar in Walliscote Road at a hearing today (Weds).
Representations were made against the proposal by Avon and Somerset Police, the council’s licensing and environmental protection teams and local residents and landlords.
In a statement, the committee said that extending the hours would have had an impact on nearby properties, and they had been concerned by the applicant’s inability to adhere to certain conditions of their original licensing agreement.
The Greek restaurant and bar had also applied to play recorded music until 4am on weekend nights, and to play music and serve alcohol until 1.30am Sunday to Thursday.
