A SEA shanty group from Weston has raised almost £3,000 for charity.

The Beach'd Buoys held a festival at The Captains Cabin on Saturday, October 1, where they joined the Weston Ukelele Players, Morris Minors and The Port of Bristol Shanty Crew, for a day of music and song.

Now £2,779 has been collected for Children's Hospice South West.

A spokesperson said: "The donations have been raised over the past nine months at various events in and around Weston.

"All of the money donated at each performance is given to the Children's Hospice and the Beach'd Buoys are pleased to continue supporting this amazing charity."

The group's next performance will be on top of the See Monster this Saturday between 2pm and 4pm, and again on October 29.

They will also be appearing at the Mevagissey Shanty Festival and at local private events over the next three months.
