A COUNCIL has announced its winter opening times for beaches along the Somerset coast.

Sedgemoor Council's beach safety staff will now begin moving into a winter schedule where parking, facilities and permissions will change.

Burnham-on-Sea: There is disabled access to the beach from the esplanade and by the pier.

Dogs are now allowed on all beaches except between the Jetty and the pier.

Berrow: The beach gate will open daily from 10am to 3pm, excluding Christmas Day, to allow for parking on the beach.

There will be beach safety staff on duty during these times.

Around 30 parking spaces are available when the gate is locked and also at the nature reserve car park.

Brean: The gate will only open on weekends from 10am to 3pm depending on high tide.

On Boxing Day, December 27 and January 2, the gate will also open for festive walkers to park on the beach. There is alternative parking at Brean in the National Trust car park.
