WESTON Hospicecare provides vital support to the local community, helping your loved ones through difficult times day in, day out.

Well, now's the time to show your appreciation and give back, all the while testing your limits.

The Mendip Challenge, taking place on Sunday, June 4th, is a sponsored trek for those looking for their next challenge and to raise money for Weston Hospicecare.

There are various different routes along the Mendip Hills that you can choose from, depending on your ability level.

Individuals, teams, families and dog-walkers are invited to take part.

Here are the routes:

30 mile

Classed as the most demanding route, this 30 mile trek starts in Wells before ascending into the Mendips at Priddy before reaching Draycott.

Walkers will then walk along the top of Chedder Gorge before tackling the top of the Mendips from Tynings Farm to Crooks Peak.

The route then takes walkers down a steep incline into Loxton, before taking the group past Roman Road and along a loop of Uphill.

The walk finishes back at Weston Cricket Club.

20 mile

Don't want to walk 30 miles but still want a challenge? The 20 mile route follows two thirds of the above route.

Walkers will start at Draycott before ascending to the top of Chedder Gorge, then to Tynings Farm and Crooks Peak.

Walkers will then go past Roman Road, along a loop of Uphill and finish at Weston Cricket Club.

10 mile

Starting from Weston Cricket Club, this route is the a fabulous challenge for those who are not confident with either the 30 or 20 mile.

It’s a glorious route which is routed towards Bleadon before connecting with the last stage of the 20 and 30 mile routes.

5 mile

The 5 mile route is much more family friendly.

Walkers will start at the cricket club and follow the purpose built pathway between Uphill and Brean.
