WESTON Comedy Village is coming to town.

Venues throughout Grove Village will host hilarious performances on Saturday, April 21.

There will be a variety of side-splitting comedy acts, as well as food and drink from local businesses.

Any donations will go to The Stable Food Shop, which focuses on reducing the amount of waste that we generate by stocking a shop full of surplus products.

The shop is stocked with a wide range of household items, ranging from savoury snacks, sweets, cupboard products, baby and infant supplies, to name just a few.

Tickets for Weston Comedy Village are completely free, but it is advised that people check individual venues for reservations and menus.

Jemma Coles, the director of operations at The Stable, is excited for the event. She says: "Not only will this be a night of side-splitting entertainment, but it's also an opportunity to support local businesses and give back to the community through our donations to The Stable Food Shop.

“There are some fantastic venues taking part, Black Cat Mircropub, The Brit Bar, The Stage Door, The Stable, The Stable Games Room and The Blakehay Theatre. So there’s a venue for everyone.”

Speaking further about the local grassroots project, Jemma adds: “The project aims to reduce the amount of food waste that we generate as a population.

"The Food Shop has been created to feel like a farm shop, and it is open to everyone in our local community.

“The Food Shop runs as a membership scheme, costing £5 per household for each 6 month period. Members are then able to visit The Food Shop weekly to purchase a range of items.

"Each basket of shopping costs just £5.”

If you would like to become a member, you can sign up by popping into The Food Shop at The Stable, 3-6 Wadham Street, Weston-super-Mare BS23 1JY.

There will be someone in the main reception area to assist.

If you are living or visiting the Weston area, Weston Comedy Village could give you the night of entertainment and laughter you need.
