WESTON dachshund owners are invited to the Somerset Sausage Meet this Easter.
On Monday, April 10, owners and their four-legged friends will congregate on Weston's sea front. The meet will start from 11am outside of the Revo restaurant.
The dachshunds, also known affectionately as sausage dogs, will be encouraged to play and walk, learning important social skills in the process.
According to Dog Time, dachshunds were originally bred to hunt badgers and other tunnelling animals, using their small agile bodies to reach and flush out their prey.
There have even been reports of packs of dachshunds being used to trail wild boar.
Nowadays, however, these dogs make great companions, despite their larger-than-life attitude.
Somerset Sausage Meets will be collaborating with North Bristol Sausage Meets to raise money for Dedicated to Dachshunds and The Red Foundation, two charities that are dedicated to protecting the health and wellbeing of these loveable pets.
