A MAN is running a half marathon to raise funds for Exeter and District branch of the National Autistic Society.
Ben Nicholas, who is autistic himself, will be tackling the Climb South West Sid Valley Half Marathon on April 29.
The run is a new phase of Ben's Legs-4-Hire challenges, in which he does cycling and running events on behalf of different National Autistic Society branches and groups across the South West.
The money raised will help charities and groups who, in turn, help others with autism.
As stated by the National Autistic Society, autism is a lifelong disability which affects how people communicate and interact with the world.
It is estimated that there are around 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK with varying difficulties with communication and social interaction.
Ben said: “I’m really excited to be launching Legs-4-Hire and hope the scheme will make a difference to families across the South West.
“Far too many autistic people and their families don’t get the understanding or support they need and end up feeling isolated. I want to help change things, to create a better society for autistic people.
"This is more important than ever during coronavirus, with so many autistic children and families needing help. I’d be really grateful for any donations."
