A local junior football club have raised over £2,000 for Weston Hospicecare.
Weston Crusaders hosted a tournament at Baytree Recreation Ground and featured teams from all over the South West of England, the Midlands and South Wales and covered age groups from under-7s to under-14s to coincide with the end the year of fundraising.
After the tournament, the Crusaders revealed the final total of £2,078 and 83 pence had been collected for the charity.
The Somerset FA provided local referees and the whole event was supported by a large number of volunteers as well as Crusaders coaches and committee members.
The football club is looking to expand its local community offer next season by considering starting up a men’s team to play in the local league.
The Crusaders are also keen to hear from anyone interested in coaching and running junior teams in all age groups and both genders.
