DATA from Compare My Move has found that over 71.2% of people settling down in Weston had originally moved from Bristol.
According to the data site, this could be due to a number of reasons, the primary one being house price rises.
According to Zoopla, the average house price in Bristol over the last 12 months was £393,733, whereas the average house price over the last 12 months in Weston-Super-Mare was £266,354.
This means that the average cost difference in house prices was £127,379.
Compare My Move outlines a list of benefits that come with moving to the seaside town of Weston. These are:
- Cheaper house prices.
- Train links to Bristol - this means that you can still enjoy everything Bristol has to offer, but without the costs associated with living there.
- Proximity to the beach.
- Better for drivers - with the introduction of the congestion charge, and the population of Bristol increasing, it is becoming increasingly harder to drive in and out of the city. Weston, meanwhile, has easy driving links to the M5 and the surrounding areas.
Compare My Move’s founder and director, Dave Sayce, said: “Because of its transport links to London, Bristol has seen an influx of movers over the last year, this will likely lead to a boom in population and overcrowding, so there’s never been a better time to cash in, and Weston-Super-Mare is a fantastic place to do so.
"28 minutes away on the train and 40 minutes in the car, you’ll still be in commuting distance of Bristol, but having that extra bit of profit from selling your house could make the world of difference.”
If you are planning on moving house, there are some important things to note.
When moving house, even over a short distance, you'll need a conveyancer to handle the process. It is important that you shop around and compare prices before you commit.
Compare My Move has a Conveyancing Calculator to find out what your specific conveyancing costs will be when moving house, allowing you to budget and giving you piece of mind that you are getting the best price possible.
