PHOTOGRAPHY enthusiasts, walkers and visitors are being encouraged to capture special features of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The Moments on Mendip project will draw together the community's photos of the 12 special qualities of the area.

This could include pictures of the views, the drystone walls, the grasslands, and everything in between.

The photos will create a new public online gallery in Cheddar Gorge on the evening of Sunday, October 22nd.

The project is being led by the Mendip Hills AONB Service in partnership with Somerset Film, The Mendip Society, and Windrose Rural Media Trust, and has been commissioned by Seed Sedgemoor Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme.

Elizabeth Woodger has been commissioned as the lead photographic artist for the project. Her images will be projected onto the rockfaces during the gallery.

People can upload their photos on the Mendip Hills AONB website.

The deadline to submit photos is at the end of September.

For those wishing to find out more and improve their photography skills, there will be a drop-in event at Cheddar Community Pavilion on Tuesday, August 29.
