The £200,000 road surface scheme to improve Baytree, Milton and Locking Roads will begin on Monday (September 25).

The work will be completed in phases. Here are some of the important dates to keep an eye out for:

  • Monday, September 25 to Tuesday, September 26: Three way traffic lights will be in place between 8am and 5pm on Milton Road and Locking Road. A road closure will be in place for Baytree Road between 8am and 5pm.
  • Wednesday, September 27: A road closure will be in place on Milton Road between 8pm and 6am.
  • Thursday, September 28 to Monday, October 2: A road closure will be in place on Locking Road (excluding the weekend) between 8pm and 6am.
  • Friday, September 29 to Tuesday, October 3: A road closure will be in place on Baytree Road (excluding the weekend) between 8pm and 6am.
  • Tuesday, October 3: A road closure will be in place on Milton Road from 8pm until 6am.

Cllr Hannah Young, North Somerset Council's executive member with responsibility for highways said: "This is an essential maintenance scheme that will improve the surface and prolong the life of the road.

"It will cause some disruption to these busy roads but we would urge people to be patient during the completion of the scheme."

Cllr Catherine Gibbons, North Somerset Council's ward member for Milton added: "I am delighted that this scheme is being completed. We have been working hard to ensure that these roads receive the essential maintenance that is needed.

"We have been pressing for this and a little disruption is worth it to have our roads maintained."

A spokesperson from the North Somerset Travel and Roads team said: "Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works. The roads will be closed to all other traffic (including cyclists) so we can carry out the works safely."

Residents living in the affected areas will receive letters about the closures.

Advanced warning signs will be on display and traffic marshals will be on site to assist road users and to advise on diversion routes and road closures.
