AN exhibition has launched in Weston which showcases the work of Palestinian-born artist Lamees Khoury.

The showcase at The Gallery in Weston was launched on Saturday, October 28 by deputy mayor Cllr John Crockford-Hawley.

The exhibition, which will run until November 14, features a collection of Lamees' paintings from the last three years.

Lamees' website reads: "Like many artists do, I attempt to emulate nature as I understand it intuitively, knowing that my learning curve never goes in vain…

"Nevertheless, at this time I find myself far more fascinated by a particular part of nature; our human nature. The obscure traits as well as the extraordinary hidden qualities that are embedded within us.

"However, as we evolved (or some might argue devolved), we chose to detach ourselves from those innate attributes and fell into collective forgetfulness.

"I am enchanted by the premise that through art I may echo the essence of our being and perhaps just like a scientist I can imagine understanding the nucleus nature of the universe."

According to Lamees' Facebook page, the exhibition can be viewed Monday to Friday from 10am until 4pm.
