A LOCAL photographer has had his garden damaged in what he believes was a premeditated act of vandalism.

Peter Nicholls has been taking photographs at Bridgwater Carnival for quite some time, and even had his own shop in the town for almost 40 years.

Whilst out taking snaps for this year's carnival, vandals targeted his home in Bleadon, near Weston-super-Mare.

Several trees in Peter's garden were mindlessly chopped down and left for him to stumble upon the next morning, in what he described as a "distressing" moment.

Peter alleges the perpetrator knew he would be out at Bridgwater Carnival on the day of the attack.

He immediately reported the incident to Avon and Somerset Police, who have since commented on the matter.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called shortly after 11.10am on Sunday, November 5 to a report that trees were cut down in a residential garden.

“Officers have met with the victim and our investigation to identify the offenders is ongoing.”
