CHRISTMAS is arriving early at The Grand Pier this year.
This Sunday (November 19), the iconic pier will switch on its Christmas lights. The event, which will be attended by the mayor and a special competition winner, will start at 5pm.
The Christmas tree will also feature artwork submitted by local children for the Design a Christmas Bauble competition. The winner was a nine-year-old "creative superstar" called Isla Edney.
Posting on social media, a spokesperson from The Grand Pier said: "Our Christmas light switch on will take place this Sunday at 5pm! Come along for fun on our rides and arcade games, meet and greet the Parkwood Theatre pantomime cast and witness the mayor of Weston-super-Mare and our special competition winner light up the pier with festive lights!
"Speaking of, we are delighted to share that the winner of our ‘Design a Christmas Bauble’ competition is…..nine-year-old creative superstar, ISLA EDNEY!
"Thank you for all of your fantastic submissions. Your artwork will be featured on our Christmas tree for all to see."
