Weston locals have been having their say on the best restaurants in town - and it's safe to say the area is blessed with great eateries.

One resident best encapsulated the sheer variety of choice, saying: "It depends what you are after at that point in time, but we are somewhat blessed in Weston with so many decent food venues."

Many heaped praised on Sakura Japanese Restaurant, with a local noting: "Sakura Japanese Restaurant are amazing, food is so fresh, definitely worth a visit at lunchtime or the evening."

Readers also named Thatched Cottage, Sabor do Brasil, The Nut Tree, Mimi’s Thai Bistro, The New Inn and Two Chefs among their favourites.

A reader pinpointed their love for Sabor do Brasil, which is found on Saint James Street, the sole Brazilian restaurant in the area, saying: "If you have never tried Brazilian give it a try, it's 'all you can eat' from their buffet and unlimited meat, or the choice of one serving of each meat for those with smaller appetites."

The New Inn was also praised by a local for its steak: "The best steak you'll ever have is at The New Inn, it's melt in your mouth amazing."

One resident highlighted their favourite place to enjoy Southern Indian cuisine: "Two Chefs - fabulous taste of Southern India."

A local also shared their endorsement for Fusion Chinese restaurant's food and service.

Other mentions included Thailimeleaves Restaurant for Thai cuisine.

Finally, a sad resident lamented the imminent closure of their beloved favourite place to eat: "Duets, but sadly it is about to close."

But it was not all doom and gloom, as comedy-inclined residents made some funny suggestions, including "my kitchen" and "Spoons, because my son works there".

Weston-super-Mare is clearly a food lover's paradise, with a diversity of excellent restaurants to satisfy any palate.
