THE mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, has unveiled a new lifesaving defibrillator at the town's Sweeney Todd's Barber Shop.
On Thursday, November 16, Cllr Cronnelly met with the project management team from The Great Western Air Ambulance Charity's Donate for Defib campaign, who are pushing for more defibrillators to be installed in Weston.
The lifesaving equipment was purchased using the money raised from various fundraising events, including a Race Night which took place on November 11 at The Regency Pub.
At the grand unveiling, the team also discussed grants and housing developments, as well as potential funding sources.
On January 15, 2024, the fundraising group will attend a Community Services Committee Meeting to discuss the application of funding that they have put forward for via Weston Town Council. This would enable them to install even more defibrillators in the town.
Aardvark AVO also attended the opening. The electrical company is a proud sponsor of the scheme and on the same day installed a defibrillator at the George & Dragon Pub.
Four defibrillators can now be accessed in Weston thanks to the scheme. These can be found at the George & Dragon Pub, The Regency Pub, The Waverley Pub, and Sweeney Todd's Barber Shop.
