A two-storey extension accommodating a “nurture” classroom could be built at a Weston-super-Mare primary school.
Christ Church CofE Primary School sent a planning application to North Somerset Council to build the extension where there is currently a temporary classroom in an Elliot building.
A statement submitted with the application said: “The extension will provide a new nurture space for pupils with additional needs within the school, giving them a welcoming and homely space to learn.”
The nurture space will be on the ground floor of the extension, with the first floor including a new classroom to replace the Elliot building.

In the planning statement, the school says: "Clearly a facility providing for specialist teaching of children within the existing school needs to be placed on the same site, with easy, safe and secure access from the existing buildings.
"The site has been selected to provide this while minimising the visual impact on the existing buildings and the surroundings."
