THE GLOW Light Festival is set to return to Weston next year for "its biggest event so far."

The much-anticipated event will take place from Tuesday, February 13 until Saturday, February 17, 2024.

Over 25 light illustrations will feature at the festival's main site in Grove Park, but there will also be other immersive experiences and illustrations at The Grand Pier, Princess Royal Square and the Italian Gardens.

Next year's theme will be 'Play in Nature', designed to encourage attendees to get outdoors and appreciate the world around them.

Illustrations will include a large-scale kinetic fire sculpture, microscopic world, squeezable robots and an interactive Wood Wide Web, as well as illuminated playground favourites, UV garden, bug world, disco bandstand and lots more.

The festival will run from 5.30pm until 10pm each night, with the last entry slot at 9pm.

Tickets, which are offered on a Pay What You Decide basis, must be booked in advance. You can do this via the Super Culture website. Under 16s can benefit from free entry, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Paul Birtwistle, a Weston-based artist and producer, designed the festival, which will be presented in partnership with Super Culture, Weston-super-Mare Town Council, The Grand Pier and PYTCH.

Arts Council England and Weston-super-Mare Town Council have supported the festival by providing funding.

Attendees will be able to enjoy food and drink from regional vendors, as well as from Sprout café.

The Super Culture bar will serve up mulled wine and cider.

GLOW director, Paula Birtwistle, said: “Thanks to generous funding support from Arts Council England and Weston-super-Mare Town Council, GLOW is returning in full technicolour glory for its biggest event so far!

"Not only will Grove Park be magically transformed, but the fun will spill out into the town with a variety of interactive, sensory installations, creating a playful, multi-coloured trail.

"This year, I’m particularly excited to share our large-scale new, ground-breaking commission for Walk the Plank, created by Felix Rowberry and the families who are part of South Weston Activities Network."

Cllr John Crockford-Hawley, chairman of Weston Town Council’s Heritage Arts and Culture Committee, added: “GLOW is a really special festival that shines a bright light on Weston’s creative community and the town’s heritage, including the beautiful Victorian Grove Park and iconic Grand Pier."
