The mayor and mayoress of Weston have shown their support for the town's Donate For Defib scheme.

A bingo and raffle fundraiser took place at Weston-super-Mare Social Club on December 6 in aid of defibrillators in the local community.

Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly and his wife Katherine were in attendance, as the event raised just over £400.

The mayor also went on to click the publish button of the Donate For Defib official website later in the evening.

Organisers thanked the duo for showing up to support the fundraiser.

Steward for the venue, Tony Williams, said: "We would like to thank all who supported by contributing to the event by donating various raffle prizes, attending and making the evening a great success.

"We are also delighted to say that our Defibrillator here at the Social Club has been ordered and is currently awaiting delivery, this cannot be done without the generosity and support of our local community within Weston".
