A CAMPAIGN group which is working towards installing more publicly accessible defibrillators in Weston is looking for more people to support the cause.

The Donate for Defib campaign, which is in partnership with the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, is urging more people to join the team.

There are a wide range of voluntary roles available, many of which can be completed at home.

Successful applicants will only need to work up to six hours a week. The hours can be staggered, making it the perfect opportunity for students and young people especially to gain work experience and contribute to their CV's.

Those within the roles will also be required to attend a Senior Management Team meeting once a month, which can also be completed at home.

Here are the roles available:

Strategic partnerships lead

  • You will help to manage and develop strategic initiatives within the community to help engage companies, businesses and contacts.
  • You will liaise with the sponsorship/grant representatives on any developments related to funding.
  • You will write and update project plan proposals.

Fundraising lead

  • You will help plan for fundraising events alongside partnerships and companies that support the project.
  • You will need to liaise with the the defibrillator coordinator from the ambulance charity in picking up donation buckets when full, ensuring all donations are registered with the correct collection bucket and number and location.
  • You will help to keep the Defibrillator Project Locations Database up to date.
  • You will help to create/manage Enthuse pages, including sub-team pages for contacts and fundraisers.

Donations / gifts (finance) lead

  • You will be involved in checking and updating budget sheets and donations online.
  • You will liaise with the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity regarding their bank account.
  • You will help to manage donations and gifts.

Project planning / development lead

  • You will help to plan for future projects and create a five to 10 Year Plan.
  • You will liaise with the strategic partnerships lead.
  • You will liaise with the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.
  • You will work with the education/research lead to organise any outstanding work relating to research and development for the project. 

Day to day operations lead / assistant (joint roles)

  • You will deal with enquiries relating to the project.
  • You will manage the email account.
  • You will write the agenda for monthly senior management team meetings.
  • You will relay any problems to the appropriate member of the team when needed.

Research & innovation lead

  • You will research new opportunities which could help to support the scheme.
  • You will work with medical professionals, such as professor Graham Stuart, to enhance ongoing developments.

Events / resources lead

  • You will help to promote and develop fundraising events for project and liaise with the sponsorships / grants representative to arrange donations to be made via sponsorship in the case of raffle prizes etc.
  • You will provide resources to help promote projects and events.
  • You will advertise events on social media.
  • You will update the Events Calendar that is attached to the website and Google Calendar. 

Communications lead

  • You will be involved in creating a monthly digital newsletter.
  • You will update sponsors on creating / writing progress reports.
  • You will liaise with the Great Western Air Ambulance's communications team.
  • You will discuss with members of the senior management team with any updates for the digital newsletter relating to project / volunteering.
