THE mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, met up with the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner, Mark Shelford, to discuss the town's priorities and its residents' concerns.

Posting on social media, the mayor said: "I recently met with the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner to discuss priorities in Weston-super-Mare.

"Thank you to residents for giving me your feedback.

"We discussed:
- Concerns about ASB/crime in the town centre;
- The importance of a visible police presence;
- Shoplifting and the need to encourage big businesses to report this (as it tends to be smaller businesses that do);
- speeding in estates;
- tackling drug crime and county lines;
- A rise in scams and cyber crime;
- underreporting of crime;
- award winning dementia safe guarding scheme.

"I feel the views and concerns of residents have been heard and understood and I'll continue to meet regularly with the police to ensure these priorities are pushed forward."
