Avon Fire & Rescue will hold a children's wellbeing event at Weston Fire Station.

Timed to coincide with Children’s Mental Health Week next month, the interactive event is set for February 11.

It is targeted at all family members.

The event will bring together firefighters, the Children and Young People team from Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS), representatives from national charities, and numerous local organisations.

In a day filled with educational activities, families will have the chance to learn more about different aspects of wellbeing.

Speaking about the forthcoming event, youth intervention lead Emily Cook said: "We are really looking forward to our first major event of the year.

"The theme for Children’s Mental Health Week is ‘My Voice Matters’ and as a Service we truly believe it is invaluable to give a voice to the community.

"We are bringing together families and local mental health services to build connections between the two.

"On top of this there will be a range of healthy refreshments to try, opportunities for physical exercise and an exciting appearance from FIDO the fire dog.

"Please come down and see us on the day!"

A number of organisations are set to make their presence felt at the event.

The list includes the Coast Guard, Local PCSOs, Harmony Rain Holistic Therapy, The Jack Hazeldene Foundation, Locking Primary School, North Somerset Family Intervention, Princes’ Trust, Safe Link Support, Young Carers Alliance, West of England Music Therapy and Wellbeing, along with other community organisations.

Scheduled to run from 11am to 3pm, the event is a chance for participants to interact directly with local services and to understand their scope of work.

They can also explore the fire station premises and meet FIDO as part of a fitness challenge in which they can also grasp key fire safety measures.

Participants who engage in at least six activities at different event stalls stand to walk away with a water bottle and other goodies.
