THE mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, has bid farewell to the town council's clerk, Malcolm Nicholson.
Malcolm took on the role in 2009, and in that time he has made significant contributions to the town's development and well-being.
Posting on Facebook, Cllr Cronnelly said: "Today we said goodbye to Malcolm - the town clerk of Weston-super-Mare Town Council - who has retired after 15 years of service at Weston Town Council (totalling over 40 years in local government!).
"A lot has changed since Malcolm joined us in 2009 and the town council has delivered many projects and initiatives we can all be proud of.
"We said a fitting farewell at Weston Museum - the building Weston Town Council saved from being closed all those years ago, and that Malcolm played a key role in.
"Enjoy your retirement and thank you on behalf of all staff and the town."
