A local initiative is looking to expand to more locations in Somerset.

The Donate For Defib Weston-super-Mare Project focuses on making defibrillators more accessible within the community.

Now, the team is exploring other areas in Somerset where there may be a need for publicly accessible defibrillators.

Recently, the senior management team travelled to Bridgwater to engage with the GWRSA Social Club.

The goal of the meeting was to discuss potential fundraising efforts for a defibrillator.

After a successful presentation, the team concluded that other areas within Somerset might benefit from similar schemes.

To identify these areas, further research is well underway.

Weston Mercury: The Donate For Defib Weston-super-Mare Project focuses on making defibrillators more accessible

The project team continues to raise awareness for their mission using various platforms, including social media, Weston Mercury, and Local Reach Community Magazine.

Prior to Christmas, the project team reached out to 'The Circuit' to acquire more insights.

This allowed them to identify specific locations within Weston-super-Mare, especially areas marked by deprivation and ageing demographics.

The information collected has proven to be incredibly useful, with a presentation made to the Weston Town Council on January 15 resulting in a grant of £1,000.

The same process is currently being applied across Somerset, with further information expected soon.
