A POLICE officer has been carrying out high visibility foot patrols near a Locking church following reports of theft and vandalism.

PCSO Steve Hemmett has been carrying out the patrols around St Augustine's Church.

A spokesperson from the North Somerset Neighbourhood Policing team said: "Following recent reports of thefts and vandalism around St Augustine's Church, Locking, Weston-Super-Mare, PCSO Steve Hemmett has been conducting high visibility foot patrols in the area."

Residents are encouraged to report concerning behaviour or areas where they feel unsafe on the StreetSafe online tool.

A representative from the policing team added: "Streetsafe is a service that allows you to report safety concerns in public places without giving us your name (anonymously).

"This includes issues like poorly lit streets, abandoned buildings, or vandalism, as well as instances where you feel unsafe due to someone following or verbally abusing you.

"Streetsafe is not for reporting crimes or emergencies. If you witness a crime or emergency, please call the Police on 101 or report a crime online."
