A French high street restaurant welcomed guests from a local charity for a free three-course dinner.

Bistrot Pierre in Weston hosted a lunch for thirty selected guests from Age UK Somerset last month - all paid for by the generous donations from its customers.

Offered as part of Bistrot Pierre's annual Christmas initiative, the scheme aimed to thank charity workers and the community's most vulnerable members.

The restaurant committed to donating a free three-course meal to the charity for every Sunday party booking of six or more people.

The initiative saw great success, resulting in the donation of 30 meals to the guests of Age UK Somerset.

Age UK Somerset works tirelessly to bring the community together and ensure older people can fully enjoy later life through various events and activities.

Volunteering and communications manager, Kate Barrington, attended the lunch and expressed her appreciation for the restaurant's support: "Our guests and volunteers had a wonderful time.

"It was a fantastic opportunity to come together and reconnect, to celebrate old friendships and create new ones."

Ms Barrington also highlighted the ongoing battle against social isolation and the financial difficulties many older local members face.

She stressed the importance of initiatives such as these: "Opportunities like this to gather as a festive party without having to worry about the cost have never been more important, and we wish to thank Bistrot Pierre for its continued support."

Age UK Somerset was just one of 17 local charities that Bistrot Pierre partnered with nationally to combat the cost-of-living crisis and social isolation in various communities.

Richard Shardelow, the general manager of Bistrot Pierre Weston-Super-Mare, shared his insight on the recent event: "There is nothing more important than supporting our community.

"We really enjoyed welcoming each and every guest from Age UK Somerset for a much-needed treat and an opportunity to create lasting memories together."
