On November 15 of that year, Bowers, who is a former boxer, conducted a violent attack on Mr Bryan by punching and kicking him. A number of people had been drinking at the address on the night of the attack.

Bowers then fled the scene.

During the post-mortem, the pathologist was unable to rule out whether Bowers had also used a blunt weapon to inflict the injuries.

Formally of Leicestershire, Mr Bryan's family has described him as a "bright, beautiful, gentle soul."

Mr Bryan's family and loved ones continue to be supported by a specially trained officer.

Bowers was charged in November 2023 and has since been remanded in custody. He will be sentenced on Monday, April 15.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "Adam Bowers, 35, has today pleaded guilty to the murder of Nick Bryan.

"He attacked Mr Bryan at a home in Weston-super-Mare in November 2021 and sadly the 46-year-old died in hospital. Bowers has been remanded and will be sentenced in April."

Detective chief inspector Roger Doxsey added: “Adam Bowers subjected Nick Bryan to a violent attack before fleeing the scene without any attempt to get medical attention to help the man he had critically injured.

“The Major Crime Investigation Team has conducted a thorough inquiry into what happened that night and that hard work saw sufficient evidence be gathered to ensure Bowers has pleaded guilty to murder.

“A family liaison officer continues to offer support to Mr Bryan’s family and our thoughts remain with them. We hope today’s plea provides them with some comfort and answers around what happened on that fateful night, which they deserve to know.”
