A VIGIL is being held this afternoon to help raise awareness of the suffering of children worldwide.

Residents are encouraged to pop along to The Tropicana to light a candle for peace from 4pm-5pm today (Wednesday, February 28).

Lynne Booth, who helped organise the event, was prompted to act by the horrific situation in Gaza and the West Bank. However, Lynne wishes to support all of the work the charity does.

Save the Children works to keep children safe and free from suffering.

The event's poster reads: "You are invited to join us to light a candle for peace on Wednesday 28th February 4 - 5 pm At The Tropicana, Weston-super-Mare.

"EVERY child matters….. Our children are our future, together we can create a peaceful world for generations to come!

"We will be singing ‘Light a candle for peace’ by Shelley Murley."
