Firefighters from Avon Fire & Rescue Service are set to host a free women’s fitness event at Weston Fire Station.

The event, which takes place on Sunday March 17, forms part of celebrations for International Women’s Day.

Women from the local community will congregate at the station for a morning filled with fitness, fun and an opportunity to learn about the fire service's work.

The event will run from 10am to 1pm and attendance is free of charge.

Firefighter Kayley Spencer said: "As a female in the Fire Service, I feel that it’s vitally important for other women to know that there could be a viable career for them here.

"This event will be a great opportunity for local women to come together and enjoy a fitness session whilst learning more about the work that we do.

"Myself and other colleagues will be on hand to answer any questions about roles within the Service too."

The event will be at the Weston-super-Mare Fire Station, located on Milton Avenue, Weston-Super-Mare BS23 3JS.

The fitness session, which is open to women of all abilities, will feature various exercises in a circuit training style and information about the Service and potential roles.

There is limited parking so attendees are advised to take public transport or cycle/walk to the event.
