Weston College celebrated the achievements of its students at the annual Celebration of Success event.

Held on February 29 at the Winter Gardens Pavilion, the event saw staff and faculty recognise the dedication and accomplishments of students from every discipline.

Among the thousands of students taught by the college every year, these 40-plus students stood out as exceptional.

They were nominated by college staff and selected by the principal and assistant principals to receive accolades at the event.

The evening featured the fine culinary work of the college’s hospitality and catering students who treated guests to a sumptuous three-course meal.

Entertainment followed with performances from the BA (Hons) musical theatre students at the University Centre Weston (UCW).

One by one, the winning students were announced and took to the stage to the sound of roaring applause from family, friends, and distinguished attendees.

The prestige of their awards was further enhanced by them being presented by Andrew Leighton-Price, the chair of governors.

Main event sponsor and director of Honeyfield Property Services, Jon Patch, was also on hand to present certificates to Principal Gold Award winners for Under 19 and Adult Student of the Year, Baylee Burrows and Bosang Humphrey respectively.

Adult Student of the Year, Bosang Humphrey said on the night: "Winning this award is like a motivation, life is full of challenges and when your effort is recognised, that's like a stepping stone and you realise yes I can do this."

Business students were also acknowledged for their participation in the Weston Hospicecare Business Enterprise Challenge.

With the guidance and investment of local business mentors, they launched their own ventures and donated all generated profits to Weston Hospicecare.

A sizeable cheque for £6771.75 was presented to the charity, showcasing the incredible commitment of the young entrepreneurs.

The achievements of the staff were also recognised, with six faculty members picking up awards for their exceptional service.

These members collectively dedicated over 180 years of service to the college.

Upon the conclusion of the event, Weston College’s interim principal, Jacqui Ford said: "Tonight, we gather to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our learners and the invaluable support they have received along their journey...Witnessing the remarkable skills of both learners and staff fills me with immense pride."
