Cadbury House has heaped praised on its female staff and are urging more to consider a career in hospitality.

The call comes as part of the West Country-based hotel's International Women’s Day 2024 campaign.

Matilda Burgess, the sales and marketing manager at Cadbury House, which boasts a high number of female staff, seeks to inspire more women to explore roles within the sector.

She said: "The hospitality sector offers so many varied career paths, opportunities for progression and responsibility.

"For example, you could start off as an office admin apprentice or pot washer in the kitchen but develop and grow to become a general manager, potentially earning a six-figure salary."

Ms Burgess then warmly praised the current team and the rich variety of roles they play.

She said: "Here at Cadbury House we have a fantastic team, a lot of whom are women who work across a wide range of roles.

"I am able to be myself, show my personality to the team and the customers, which gives them a memorable experience during their visit."

She feels strongly that the hospitality sector can offer women rich and fulfilling careers, saying: "Anything can be achieved with the right mindset and attitude and is why more women should look to work in hospitality."

International Women’s Day, taking place on March 8, to Ms Burgess, is the perfect platform to encourage more women to get involved.

She added: "Being a chef for example is perceived as being predominantly the realm of the male cook, but that is changing with more and more woman taking up the challenge of running a kitchen.

"There are no barriers, no boundaries."

The sales and marketing manager then urged women to see past the sector’s reputation for long hours and relentless work ethic to the potential rewards.

She concluded, "Where there’s a challenge, there’s reward and this is certainly true here at Cadbury House."
