A LOCAL man is walking 200km to celebrate the Weston RNLI's 200th birthday.

Posting on social media yesterday (Tuesday, March 5), the mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, said: "Pete's 200km for RNLI 200th birthday.

"This morning Pete a fundraiser at RNLI Weston-super-Mare began his challenge of walking 200km for the RNLI to celebrate their 200th birthday.

"He's walking 10km everyday for 20 days, starting from the RNLI shop. We were joined by volunteers from RNLI Weston-super-Mare as he set off at 10am this morning.

"You can't miss him with his yellow tabard. If you see him on his walk across the seafront then do stop him and say hi.

"The RNLI don't just fundraise once a year. To keep their operations going they fundraise every day of the year and today is no different.

"You can help RNLI fundraising by either visiting their shop, various donation pots around the town or online. You could also volunteer your time."
