POLICE officers have received reports of several cold-callers operating in the North Somerset area.
Residents are reminded that they are under no obligation to answer the door to the callers, who also go by the name of 'Nottingham Knockers.'
A North Somerset Neighbourhood Policing spokesperson said: "We have had several reports of cold-callers also known as 'Nottingham Knockers' operating in the North Somerset area.
"We want to remind you that you are under no obligation to answer the door to anyone you don't know or aren't expecting.
“If you do talk to them, they are supposed to be able to provide a valid Pedlar’s Certificate (please check as most do not have a valid certificate and therefore they should not be trading) and should leave your property when asked.
"Please come and see us at your next local 'Talk to us event' which you can find by going to your local page on our Avon and Somerset website and ask for a sticker that can be put on to your door to advise no cold callers welcome."
