The Donate For Defib Weston-super-Mare Project has added a new furry friend to its team.

Maya, a three-year-old sheepadoodle, has been announced as the initiative’s mascot.

She'll will make her first appearance at the Beach Lawns during the Weston Rotary Dog Day on May 11.

The day’s events are organised by the Rotary Weston-super-Mare, with more information to be revealed in due course.

The news of Maya's involvement has been well received.

On the day of the announcement, Maya received invitations to attend five events, one of which includes the Big Worle Hub Defib Launch on March 30.

Local defibrillator owners interested in Maya and the team gracing their events can reach out for arrangements.

The Swan Family, co-owners of Maya and relatives of project co-leading partner Josh Bell, and Liz, volunteering lead, are supporters of the cause.

They said: "We are Maya's family and we massively support Josh and the team for this great cause.

"Keep up the great work you are all so appreciated for what you do."
