The Donate For Defib Weston-super-Mare Project donated a defibrillator to North Somerset Council.

It is to be used on the Community Response Van and the MAVISBus when operational.

The lifesaving device was donated by Beeswift Limited, who reached out to co-leading partner Josh Bell.

Donate For Defib received this generous donation from Wendy Goodman, the firm's national account manager, on March 18.

The defibrillator will be a vital addition to the emergency efforts, providing immediate care to patients suffering from a cardiac arrest, improving survival rates prior to an ambulance's arrival.

Members of the community response team, who had attended the project's CPR / defibrillator awareness session last month, were present to formally receive the defibrillator.

A spokesperson for Donate For Defib said: "Our thanks go to the all the team at Beeswift Limited for thinking about the Donate For Defib WsM Project and their kind donation of the defibrillator.

"Defibrillators really do save lives!"

Weston Mercury: It is to be used on the Community Response Van and the MAVISBus when operational

The project prides itself on aiding the community of Weston-super-Mare and hopes its efforts would significantly impact many more lives.

Beeswift Limited's project clinical lead ambassador, professor Graham Stuart, could not attend the event but voiced his full support for the project.

He said: "I am delighted to support the excellent work of Donate for Defib WsM Project.

"There is absolutely no doubt early cardioversion can be lifesaving in patients experiencing a cardiac arrest.

"Moreover, the earlier it takes place the better the outcome.

He continued: "The best way to achieve this is to increase the availability of publicly accessible defibrillators in their community.

"This is an incredibly important project!”
