POLICE officers have carried out a series of patrols following reports of anti-social behaviour in Haywood Village.

During their house to house, vehicle and bicycle patrols which took place today (Friday, April 5), officers engaged with the community to better understand what's going on.

Police officers say that they value community engagement, which can lead to drugs and weapons seizures.

A North Somerset Neighbourhood Policing spokesperson said: "Today the officers and PCSO's from the Worle Beat team have attended Haywood Village to respond to reports of anti-social behaviour.

"House to house, vehicle patrol and officers on bicycles were utilised.

"We received fantastic community engagement from everyone we spoke to. We were also able to engage with lots of people through Weston Village as we cycled to and from Haywood village.

"This part of our role is vital in developing intelligence, identifying offenders, helping to keep the community safe and create a feeling of safety.

"We cover a very large area and only have very limited resources. We are trying to do more of this work in more areas of Worle and will hopefully be coming to a street near you soon.

"Community engagement is absolutely critical in our ability to solve, stop and deter crime.

"The intelligence you provide us with leads to warrants enabling us to enter property by force for drugs seizures, weapons and a variety of other illegal activity. It can also help us to locate wanted offenders and help vulnerable people.

"You are our eyes and ears!

"If you want to report anything criminal or suspected criminal activity to us, helping develop the picture of what is going on in your area please do so either via 101, online (quickest way for non-emergencies), crime stoppers, 999 in emergencies.

"Remember, you cannot report anything to us via social media."

This isn't the first time that police have been called to the area.

Posting previously on social media, the police spokesperson said: "The Worle and Villages Beat team are calling upon the residents of Haywood village to assist us in a matter of persistent criminality.

"Haywood village is currently subject to a barrage of regular egg throwing against houses and even the occasional car!

"We have increased our patrols in the area both on bicycles and in vehicles but have yet to catch the phantom egg throwers.

"Recent victims have confirmed that juveniles have been seen scurrying away into the night and we are asking if anyone has any CCTV or knowledge of those juveniles involved.

"We really need your help on this, so if you can help, please contact us either online or via 101 and quote reference number 5224064332."
