A marathon runner will compete in four global races to raise funds for a Weston-super-Mare hospice.

Danny Street seeks to complete the Tokyo, Paris, London, and Chicago marathons this year in support of Weston Hospicecare.

The director at Howards Motor Group took up running in 2015 and has since completed 28 marathons, earning him a four-star medal that's awarded to those finishing four out of six major global marathon races.

The hospice Mr Street will be supporting provides free-of-charge palliative care across the region.

He said: "The hospice, but more importantly, the staff that care for people in need, provide something we may all need in the future.

"In our daily lives, we all get caught up in believing everything is forever, and in situations where life throws up something we didn’t consider could happen to us; the hospice is there to provide vital care and support for those in a time of need.

"This is why the Howards Motor Group team and I have committed to raising funds to support such an impactful organisation."

After completing the London Marathon, Mr Street is set to chase the five-star medal after finishing the Chicago Marathon in October.

His ultimate goal is to achieve the six-star medal and he aims to accomplish this by finishing the Boston Marathon in April 2025, a culmination of 10 years of running.

Paul Winspear, chief executive at Weston Hospicecare, said: "We’re so grateful for the support of Danny and all others participating in the upcoming marathon to support our hospice.

"We wish you all the best, and the team will be cheering him and all the other participants along the way."
