A NEW fine art gallery has opened its doors in Weston.

Art Gallery and Studio, on 4 Walliscote Road, held a launch evening on April 20.

Speaking before the gallery's opening, renowned artists Aga Kubish and Marta Hutt said: "We're excited to announce the opening of Weston's first professional fine art gallery.

“After successfully organizing several art events at the Tropicana and Weston Museum, and exhibiting in major cities across the UK, we're thrilled to open our independent gallery to the public.

“A professional fine art gallery with a studio is something Weston has been lacking, and we're looking forward to hosting exhibitions, workshops, and providing a space accessible to artists and art enthusiasts.

“As professional artists, we think that it is crucial for galleries to expose people to contemporary art.

“We believe it's important to run our own gallery while supporting other artists, helping them expand their body of work and improve their skills, whilst delivering high-quality art experiences accessible to everyone.

“Our gallery is in the Weston Heritage Zone, in the newly refurbished Magdala buildings, and we can't wait to showcase the work of the artists we have onboard!”

Aga is a multiple award-winning artist printmaker and Associate Member of The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, who specialises in botanical linocut print.

Meanwhile, Marta is a published and internationally renowned painter and creative director known for her vibrant fine art.

The Mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, attended on opening night.

Cllr Cronnelly said: "Welcome to Weston's new fine art gallery - The Art Gallery and Studio by Aga Kubish!

"It was lovely to be able to attend the opening night and view the fantastic art proudly showcasing nine Somerset artists.

"I'd encourage residents to visit the gallery and take a look at the art, and if you like it, why not buy some?

"The art gallery can be found at 4 Walliscote Road - which is the newly refurbished building within Weston's Heritage Action Zone.

"Huge credit to Aga Kubish and Lush Eclectic Fine Art by Marta Hutt for all the effort they've put into the gallery to get this off the ground.

"They've worked very hard to make this a reality."
