THE May bank holiday is upon us, and although the weather may look unsettled, we have rounded up the best five pubs you can visit.

Surely there is nothing better to do in Britain than going to the pub with a loved one or your mates. Especially to toast that summer is just around the corner and the fact that you have a three-day weekend (shout out to those workers who are continuing to work throughout the bank holiday, though).

Here are some of the best pubs/restaurants in North Somerset according to their reviews on Tripadvisor.

Blues Bar

Weston's Blues Bar, located on Alexandra Parade, boasts a five star rating on Tripadvisor, and features third out of five of the top bars and pubs in the town.

According to visitors, the venue is perfect for a night out with a couple of drinks and some tasty food, with one commenter saying: "Incredible food, graze board was so good and fantastic choice of cocktails. Live music was brilliant. Highly recommend visiting Blues Bar."

Another reviewer called it a "gem" of a place: "What a gem of a place. We came for Xmas eve drinks with friends and were really impressed with the whole set up. Its family run and you can really tell."

The Brewers Arms

This Banwell pub is a hit with locals, with a four star rating on Tripadvisor out of 18 reviews.

One customer said that they "cannot recommend it enough", while another said that it was a "great pub in beautiful location."

The Fallen Tree Micropub

This Clevedon venue, which can be found on Hill Road, features some of the best ale around, according to some Tripadvisor commenters.

One person wrote: "Best beer in Clevedon (and beyond). Usually three or four casks at any one time. All well chosen beers from local breweries."

The Royal Oak

This "great little" Greene King Nailsea pub is perfect for those wanting a bite out to eat this Bank Holiday weekend, with one reviewer saying: "Great little pub in Nailsea. Good prices, really nice drink selection and the burgers were so good! Will be back soon. Thank you!"

The Black Horse

This "local staple" in Clapton-in-Gordano is a "historic gem of a pub."

One local said: "Recommended and featured in the Alastair Sawday Pub Guide and the Good Pub Guide. A short drive off the M5. A beautiful village pub and gardens. Friendly crew. Great sandwiches at lunch time."
