THE mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, will be handing over his title this week.
Cllr John Crockford-Hawley, the current deputy mayor, will be taking over the role.
Cllr Crockford-Hawley, a heritage champion, has spent around 50 years serving the Weston and wider North Somerset community. Notable successes include his work with Weston museum and his role in creating the Weston Civic Society.
An official 'mayor making' ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 5pm. All are welcome to attend.
Cllr Cronnelly said: "Thursday will be my last day as Mayor of Weston-super-Mare - a role that's been a huge privilege and I've loved.
"The next mayor will be Cllr John Crockford-Hawley and our 'mayor making' ceremony will be held at the Town Hall, Thursday, May 16 at 5pm, which is where we'll do our official handover.
"It's a public meeting so if you wished to come along you're more than welcome."
