THE mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, has officially opened the We SEE Trees Community Tree Nursery to mark his last full evening in the role.
From 5pm today (Thursday, May 16), a 'mayor making' ceremony will be held to mark the handing over of office to Cllr John Crockford-Hawley.
Speaking about the tree nursery yesterday, Cllr Cronnelly said: "On my final evening as Mayor of Weston-super-Mare I headed to where it started for me - in the ward of Winterstoke, where I'm the local councillor.
"I officially opened the We SEE Trees Community Tree Nursery tonight which can be found on the Maltlands.
"For a number of years the community have been working really hard to find an alternative use for this empty site and I'm pleased that their hard work has paid off and it's now the beginnings of a lovely tree nursery.
"There's lots of exciting work to make this a flourishing site, and they are on the look out for volunteers, so please do get in touch if you're interested."
