WESTON-super-Mare is getting ready to welcome runners, volunteers, and spectators for the Albert Goodman Weston Super Half, which returns to the town on Sunday (October 19).
The event, part of the Super Half series, combines “coastal scenery with community spirit”, and thousands are expected to take part or cheer from the sidelines. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of race day.
The half marathon begins on Sunday morning, with the first runners setting off from the seafront near Marine Parade.
The 13.1-mile route takes participants along Weston’s coastline, through the town, and onto the sands before finishing on Weston’s Grand Pier.
Several sections of the seafront and surrounding roads will be temporarily closed to traffic throughout the morning and early afternoon to ensure safety for runners and spectators.
Full details of affected areas and reopening times will be published by organisers closer to the event, but drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for local journeys.
Alongside the main half marathon, the Community Mile will once again give families, fun runners, and local groups the chance to get involved in a shorter, more accessible event.
Organisers are calling for volunteers to help marshal the route, support runners, and keep spectators informed. Those interested can sign up via the official website.
The Weston Super Half is known for its unique coastal course - one of the few UK races to include a stretch of beach running - and its finish on the pier overlooking the sea.
