Church members, friends, former church members, and guests gathered at Milton Baptist Church, located on Baytree Road, Weston-super-Mare, for a 100-year celebration service, writes Emily Engleby.
The morning included an all-age celebration service, followed by cream teas and time to share memories, stories, and friendship.
The mayor of Weston-super-Mare, Cllr Owen James, and the mayoress joined the church family for the celebrations and helped mark the significance of the day for the wider local community.
A spokesperson for the church said: "The service was a joyful opportunity to give thanks for the life and witness of Milton Baptist Church over the past century, remembering the many people who have worshipped, served, and contributed to the church’s story since its beginning."
Additionally, during his visit, the mayor of Weston-super-Mare shared that he had been christened in the former building of Milton Baptist Church, which added a personal connection to the church’s centenary celebrations.
The church continues to serve its local community through Sunday services, pastoral care, children’s and youth work, community events, the Renew 193 Wellbeing Café, the Coffee Stop, and the many groups and organisations that use the building throughout the week.
Milton Baptist Church is thankful to all who helped make the celebration possible, and for the generations of people who have shaped its life over the last 100 years.
