A school in Weston-super-Mare has earned the School Games Platinum Mark Award.
Walliscote Primary School, part of the Extend Learning Academies Network (ELAN), received the honour for the 2025/26 academic year, recognising its commitment to school sport.
The School Games Mark, launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, is a government-led award scheme that rewards schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.
More than 300 young people from Walliscote took part in inter-school activities this year, supported by young leaders and coaches.
The school was assessed in areas including participation, competition, workforce, and clubs.
Shane German, school games organiser from the North Somerset Sport Education Association, said: "I would like to congratulate Walliscote Primary School on achieving the Platinum School Games Mark Award and thank the lead applicant for many years of hard work in getting to this point.
"I am really impressed with the platinum case study shared, which clearly details the context and challenges and how they have been overcome to provide the young people of Walliscote with positive physical activity, PE and school sport experiences.
"We have really enjoyed working with the children and staff of Walliscote through the seven 'in-school delivery' sessions across the year, and it is good to hear that these have contributed to the wider opportunities that the children have accessed through ELAN and in-house activity provided."
Walliscote Primary School looks forward to applying for the award again in 2027.
