CAMPAIGNERS fighting against plans for a wind farm in Somerset marched through affected villages with placards to raise money for their cause.

Around 35 people took part in the sponsored walk arranged by Huntspill Wind Farm Action Group on Saturday, which raised £2,000.

They walked around the areas which would be ‘hit’ if EDF Energy and EcoTricity are given the go-ahead with plans to build 14 wind turbines.

Julie Trott, of the group, said: “It went very well and we were very pleased with the amount of support that we got.

“It was amazing to see how many villages which would be affected by the turbines.

“As well as raising a good amount of money we also raised awareness of our group.”
