The annual Great Weston Ride is on this weekend, with more than 1,000 people expected to make the journey from Bristol to the Weston-super-Mare coast. Here are some of the top events in the town this weekend.

* Seafront, Weston.

Dig your cycle shorts out of your wardrobe for the annual city-to-coast Great Weston Ride challenge on Sunday at 8am. Following last years 1,100 turn out, organisers are hopeful it will be even busier this time. Cycling from Long Ashton Park, Bristol, to the Weston seafront, the 56-mile bike ride is suitable for novice cyclists to those at Olympic standard to raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK. Weston Football ClubWeston Football Club

Weston AFC will be facing off against League One team Barnsley FC, who finished in third at the end of last season. The friendly will take place this Saturday, kicking off at 3pm at the Weston ground in Winterstoke Road. For tickets, visit www.westonsmareafc.co.uk
* Quantock Road, Weston.

Enjoy a refreshing drink at a charity open garden event in 5 Quantock Road. The event is in aid of Weston Hospicecare and will run from 10.30am-4.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

* Lower Norton Lane, Kewstoke.

There is an opportunity to dance to your heart’s content and enjoy the magnificent rides, stalls and displays at a summer festival in Lower Norton Lane, Kewstoke, on Sunday from 11am-5pm. The event is raising money for Weston Hospicecare and Harvey Hext Appeal. Entry is £5 per adult and £3 per child.

* Weston Cricket Club.

Graham Ingledew, an award winning Elvis tribute act, will be rocking his blue suede shoes at the Weston Cricket Club over the weekend, kicking off his shows at 8pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are £5 and include a free buffet and late bar. Call 07480 519729 for more information.
