£550k Trop work agreed

A final phase of work to develop the Tropicana so it can host more events has been signed off by North Somerset Council.

The former pool has been reinvented as an events space in the wake of Banksy’s Dismaland show last year, and £550,000 of work to upgrade the site was agreed back in November.

A first phase of the work is now ‘substantially complete’ and executive member David Pasley this week approved the final stage.

Cllr Pasley said in his report: “The final phase (is) needed to complete works to allow the former bowling alley to hold events, repairs and framing to external cladding, provision of heating and lighting, replacement fire exit doors and other ancillary works.”
