A SET of historical buildings in Weston could soon be transformed into luxury apartments as part of a £6million redevelopment plan.

Developer Broadway Heritage wants to convert the former Weston College site in Lower Kewstoke Road, into top of the range accommodation.

A planning application to transform the former music technology, art, media and design departments, is currently being prepared and the company behind the plans hopes to be able to start work in the Spring.

A public meeting is due to be held at the site on Monday from 5-8pm, so members of the public can get a flavour of the renovation work which could take place there.

The buildings became surplus to Weston College's requirements when it opened its new multi-million pound University Campus off Loxton Road in Weston in September.

Christopher Penn, one of the owners of Broadway Heritage, the developers responsible for the work in Lower Kewstoke Road, said: "The location is superb with uninterrupted views over the Prince Consort Gardens and the Bristol Channel and we anticipate strong demand for the units."

Broadway Heritage was formed in 2005 and specialises in converting historical buildings into new homes.
