More than 8,000 pairs of glasses have been sent around the world thanks to a collection in Worle.
Worle Lions Club member Roger Burnell regularly collects hundreds of pairs of spectacles each month to send to countries where people do not have access to basic eye care services.
In the past 18 months, Mr Burnell has collected more than 8,000 glasses which people no longer needed.
He was given a certificate by the Lions Club and district governor Fred Broom to thank him for his work.
Worle Lions president Jo Underhay said: “Roger does a fantastic job collecting the glasses and we are always amazed with the amount he collects every month.”
The club meets on the second Monday of every month at the Windsor Castle pub, in Upper Bristol Road, at 8pm.
